Hurtful pretty well gave me free reign over the content. I really wanted to do something normal, pastoral; something that happens every day, and it was actually exciting to not have to draw someone with a weapon, or in a hero pose, or playing cheesecake. The only request he had from the original sketches was to have a forward-facing view; my first sketches had been silhouettes from behind, to show the whole sunset. A side effect of that was that the request made me actually think about the sky on the opposite end of a sunset, which I had to study for a couple days.

Drawing someone eating while not making them look like a cartoon or a cow is far harder than one would think.
